Free watermelon, interactive activities and fun are all on the bill for Parking and Transportation’s first-ever back-to-school bash.
Scheduled from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13, the “Picnic in the Park” event will take place in Lynn Eusan Park. Individuals interested in learning more about commuter discounts, residential resources and other services offered by the department are encouraged to attend.
“Parking and Transportation Services has more to offer the campus community than ever before,” said Leighanne Dean, marketing coordinator for Auxiliary Services. “This event is just one way we’re working to familiarize both residents and commuters with all of the resources available to them.”
Dean, who spearheaded the planning of the event, invited representatives from the Office of Sustainability, Zipcar and METRO to attend to not only discuss their own programs and services, but also add a necessary environmental perspective to the conversation.
“As the world continues to evolve, so, too, must people’s transportation habits and needs,” said Melissa Halstead, sustainability coordinator with the Office of Sustainability. “We’re excited to discuss that and more at Picnic in the Park.”
In addition to all of this, attendees will even have the opportunity to enter to win a free car wash from a local vendor. The winner will be drawn after the event, so individuals need not be present to win.
