This year, more Cougars than ever before are choosing to ride METRO to and from campus.
Through the COAST program alone, there are a total of 998 students and 236 faculty/staff members currently taking advantage of the METRO option. That doesn’t even account for the individuals who have a METRO Q Fare card in addition to a UH parking permit.
To help ensure current and potential riders remain aware of all of the public transportation services available to them, we’ve invited our METRO partners to bring their Discover Bus to campus a few times this semester.
The Discover Bus is unique because it allows people the opportunity to learn more about transit safety, fare cards, commuter benefits and other METRO services, all aboard a real METRO bus. Events like these are key, especially for our users who are brand new to the area or public transportation as a whole.
A total of three Discover Bus appearances have been scheduled throughout the fall, with the first event, taking place on Thursday, Sept. 15.
The METRO team got the ball rolling during that initial appearance with more than 20 METRO employees, including Q Card clerks, ride specialists, METRO Police, fare inspectors and more, all on hand answering questions, handing out information and giving away prizes to attendees.
Individuals who missed the September date still have two more opportunities to catch the Discover Bus at the Student Center Circle Drive this semester. Future event dates and times are listed below.
- Thursday, Oct. 20; 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
- Thursday, Nov. 17; 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
