UH Auxiliary Services Hosting National Food Services Conference

University of Houston Auxiliary Services has been selected to host next year’s southern region conference for the National Association of College & University Food Services. The three-day event will take place March 16-18, 2020 at the Westin Galleria.

NACUFS is an association for all college and university food services that provides members with industry insights, programs and helpful resources,” Auxiliary Services Program Director Rosie Ashley said. “It is professional networking for collegiate dining, where they share best practices, benchmarking data, upcoming trends and other good stuff.”

As a university, UH is relatively new to NACUFS, having been involved with the association for the past two years. That is why it is such an honor to have been selected to host the conference, Ashley said.

“The southern region program director encouraged us to apply, so we did,” she said. “After completing an extensive application, we were notified of the selection within several months. It was very exciting.”

Although the conference will be held off campus, tours of UH’s various dining locations will be offered to attendees.

Auxiliary Services has already started planning the conference. Potential educational sessions and keynote speakers are being discussed, proposals will be selected, and what aspects of the UH dining program to highlight have to be decided.

“I am very excited for this opportunity. Anything we can do to show what we are doing on campus and highlight our service is always good, for us, for our students and for our university,” Ashley said.
