In an effort to counter the wear and tear campus roads and lots endure throughout the year, UH Parking and Transportation Services routinely conducts necessary work such as seal coating, restriping and asphalt and concrete repairs.

These projects, which help maintain and improve the physical infrastructure of the campus, are typically scheduled to take place during the summer and winter months when fewer people are on campus, and this summer is no exception.

On the docket for repairs this year are parking lots 4A, 8A, 9C, 12A, 12B, 16B, 16C, 16D, 20A, 20C and 21B, as well as University entrances 1, 11, 14 and 19.

Altogether, that equates to more than 11,000 square feet of work – an impressive list considering all maintenance and repairs will be completed in just over two months.

It’s important for faculty, staff, students and visitors to note that during this time, although portions of campus lots or roads will be blocked off, there will be no full lot closures on campus, so adequate parking will still be available.

“We work to schedule these projects at low traffic times, to ensure we minimally impact the campus community,” said Bob Browand, director of Parking and Transportation Services. “We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while we make these improvements to our areas.”
