Submissions Being Accepted for Campus RecycleMania Competitions

RecycleMania logoThere’s still time for the University of Houston community to submit entries for two campus RecycleMania competitions.

UH students, faculty and staff may compete. One category is for groups of two to nine people, and the other for groups of 10 or more. Prizes will be awarded.

Teams in the small group category should submit ideas for improving recycling or reducing waste on campus. The winning team’s idea will be incorporated into the University’s waste diversion plan.

Teams in the larger group competition will actively work to improve waste diversion rates on campus. Ideas should be submitted in advance to sustainability@uh.edu. Once approved, the group should execute the idea and submit evidence of the action highlighting the recycling or waste minimization efforts that were undertaken.

Rules for both categories can be found here. The entry submission deadline is 11:30 p.m. March 13.

“We’re getting a lot of interest from students who want to play an active role in recycling on campus,” said UH Office of Sustainability Program Manager Sarah Kelly. “The voting committee is enthusiastic to review all of the ideas and actions that campus members have developed to improve waste minimization at UH.”
