Variety, New Flavors Being Added to Campus Food Truck Program

The University of Houston food truck program has been a campus favorite since its creation two years ago.

Students, faculty and staff have flocked to support the local businesses on campus, and the partnership has provided quality and convenience to the campus community in previously underserved areas. Like any other restaurant, it's important to continue innovating and adapting to keep the program fresh, which is why UH Dining Services is pleased to announce several changes to the campus food truck rotation.

In order to provide one of the most diverse campuses in the country with something unique and fitting, UH Dining Services has expanded its search into new flavor profiles. Some of the new trucks blend concepts while others provided new items like fried ice cream and desserts.

"As the University continues to grow and change, so must the dining program," said Amber Arguijo, marketing manager for UH Dining Services. "The food truck scene in Houston is thriving and we are very fortunate to have such a wide variety of high quality trucks to work with, many of which are owned or operated by UH alumni. With their focus on local and handcrafted food, the food trucks fit seamlessly into the fabric of our campus and are offering what the campus community is looking for."

To become part of the program, each food truck must participate in an interview and tasting with the UHDS team and a food truck inspection with the campus health inspector.

The new trucks joining the food truck rotation this year are Eatsie BoysFlip n' Patties and Golden Grill HTX. UHDS is also adding several dessert trucks to the schedule that will fill in hours during and after lunch throughout the semester. Those dessert trucks include Texas BlizzardCustom Confections and What's Up Cupcake.

Conversely, Bernie's Burger Bus and Third Coast Steak Sandwiches will no longer be a part of the food truck rotation on campus.

The new trucks will start serving the campus Aug. 25. View the current food truck schedule on the UH Dining website.
