Finals Mania to Provide a Welcome Break for Students

A heaping plate of pancakes after dark? That could only mean one thing: Finals Mania is here!

Finals Mania

The event, which happens at the end of the spring and fall semesters, will take place Tuesday, April 29, from 8:30 to 11 p.m. in the Rockwell Pavilion at the M.D. Anderson Library. It is a tradition at UH that is meant to provide a break for students who have been studying hard for final exams.

Last semester, more than 1,700 students attended, which was a record for the event. Just as many are expected to show up this time around to be served pancakes, turkey sausage, coffee, orange juice and a variety of snacks. Students only need to bring their student ID and a hearty appetite.

"This is a wonderful tradition that just keeps growing each semester," said Maria Honey, assistant director of marketing and communications for Auxiliary Services. "We invite all students to come and have a good time and get their minds off of finals for just a little while."

Like it has since its inception in 2008, the event will officially kick off with members of the UH band performing several songs from the second-floor balcony. Afterward, students will move through the food line, then find a place to sit and socialize with friends for a while before returning to their studies. Cute and cuddly therapy dogs from Faithful Paws will also be there for students to pet.
