By The Auxiliary Services Team
The University of Houston student body is one of the most diverse in the nation, coming from many different countries and backgrounds. Yet there is one thing that they all pretty much have in common: smart phones.
We all carry them. It’s a way of life in the digital age.
One of the great things about smart phones is they allow for easy and instant communication. UH Dining Services is taking advantage of that feature to provide better and higher quality service in all dining locations across campus, from the two dining commons to the many retail locations that serve food to hungry students.
A few months ago, the ChattBack texting system was incorporated into the dining program. It allows anyone to use their smart phone to send an anonymous text message directly to the dining management team. Nearly two dozen managers receive the texts in real time and can act upon them. The system is completely anonymous: your name and phone number is never known to the dining team, unless you tell us who you are.
Students, faculty, staff and visitors alike can take advantage of ChattBack for any problems they encounter, to ask questions or even send a note of kudos for a positive experience with a dining team member.
What numbers to text
There are three different text numbers for the UH campus. Which one to use depends on what campus dining location you want to provide feedback:
- Moody Towers Dining Commons: 832-924-8085
- Cougar Woods Dining Commons: 832-924-2770
- All retail dining locations: 832-924-8448
You don't have to memorize the numbers. They are displayed and advertised in all of the dining locations. Just look for the flyers and signs that contain the red and white circle design with a hand in the middle holding up a smart phone like the one shown here. They are hard to miss!
So what sort of feedback can you provide? The answer is simple: Everything. Need more ketchup? Text us and let us know. Can’t find any forks at Cougar Woods? Let us know. We will act upon it promptly. Have a guest service issue? Let us know. Want to see something new or have an idea for a menu feature at the dining commons? We want to hear it!
One thing we encourage you to do, however, is be specific with your feedback. We are not always going to get it right. We know that. It is a human business. So when we don’t hit the mark, we just ask for details. The more details we have, the easier it is to act on your request.
Since the ChattBack system was activated here on campus, more than 1,000 texts have been received through the three separate numbers. But we know not everyone knows about ChattBack yet. So we are trying to spread the word. Make sure to tell your friends about it, especially if you know they had a bad experience at one of the dining locations.
