BTEC 2320: Biotechnology Regulatory Environment
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: BIOL 1361, 1161, CHEM 1332 and 1112. Structure of FDA and other regulatory agencies, steps in the approval processes and role of government oversight and regulation during the discovery, development, and manufacture of new biotechnology products.

BTEC 2321: Good Manufacturing Practices
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: BIOL 1361, 1161, CHEM 1332 and 1112. Good Manufacturing Practices (GPM) as they apply in the biotechnology workplace. The history, rationale, purpose, and GMP requirements applicable to the manufacturing, packaging and labeling, testing, and control of pharmaceutical products and consequence of inaction.

BTEC 3100: Instrumentation and Measurement Laboratory
Cr. 2. (0-3). Prerequisite: BIOL 3301. Hands-on experience of techniques and instrumentation used in the modern biotechnology laboratory.

BTEC 3301: Principles of Genomics/Proteomics and Bioinformatics
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: BIOL 2333, 2133, 3301, and ITEC 2334. Overview of the fields of bioinformatics and genomics. Topics, tools, issues and current trends in these and related fields will be discussed.

BTEC 3320: Introduction to Quality Control/Quality Assurance 
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: CHEM 3331, 3221, BTEC 2320, and 2321. Quality control techniques, quality assurance issues, and quality management methods. Quality in design and planning, quality in the constructed project, and quality in production of goods and services.

BTEC 4101: Principles of Bioprocessing Laboratory
Cr. 1. (0-3). Prerequisite: concurrent enrollment in BTEC 4301 . Cell culture techniques, principles of bioreactor operations and purification techniques, and calibration and environmental monitoring.

BTEC 4198: Special Problems in Biotechnology
Cr. 1. (1-0). Prerequisite: approval of department chair. May be repeated for credit when topics vary.

BTEC 4300: Principles of Bioinformatics 
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: BTEC 3401 and ITEC 2334. Principles and practical application of bioinformatics tools in molecular biology and genetics.

BTEC 4301: Principles of Bioprocessing
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: BTEC 2321, BCHS 3304, 3201, BIOL 2333, and 2133. Cell culture techniques, principles of bioreactor operation and purification, documentation procedures, important tasks for clean room operations, including sanitization, sterilization, cleaning procedures, calibration, and environmental monitoring.

BTEC 4350: Biotechnology Capstone Experience
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: approval of department chair. Supervised internship at a biotech company or an independent thesis or honor's thesis with Honors College.

BTEC 4397: Selected Topics in Biotechnology
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: approval of department chair. May be repeated for credit when topics vary.

BTEC 4398: Special Problems in Biotechnology
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: approval of department chair. May be repeated for credit when topics vary.
