Cr. 1. (0-3). Prerequisite: Credit for or concurrent enrollment in NUTR 2233. Laboratory aspects of the general principles of food and food preparation.

NUTR 2332: Introduction To Human Nutrition (formerly HDCS 2332)
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: MATH 1310 and either BIOL 1310, BIOL 1431, CHEM 1301 or CHEM 1331. Principles of human nutrition, with emphasis on the nutrient composition of foods, nutrient absorption, and metabolic and physiological processes. Evaluate nutrition claims.

NUTR 2333: Food Science I (formerly NUTR 2233)
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: credit for or concurrent enrollment in NUTR 2133 and 2332. Introduction to general principles of food, preparation and their relationship to chemistry and microbiology.

NUTR 3101: Dietetics as a Profession
Cr. 1. (1-0). Prerequisites: NUTR 2332 and major in nutrition. Overview of dietetics profession, including the development of a professional portfolio, career options in dietetics, and application to post-baccalaureate programs.

NUTR 3320: Seminar in Nutrition Research (formerly NUTR 4337)
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: NUTR 2332. Analysis of research methods in the field of nutrition.

NUTR 3334: Advanced Nutrition (formerly HDCS 3334)
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: NUTR 2332 and BIOL 1431. Metabolic pathways of macronutrients. Role of micronutrients in human nutrition.

NUTR 3335: Commercial Food Production (formerly HDCS 3335)
Cr. 3. (2-1). Prerequisites: NUTR 2133 and NUTR 2233. Analysis of food service systems with laboratory experiences in quantity food processing and merchandising.

NUTR 3340: Nutrition In The Life Cycle (formerly HDCS 3340)
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: NUTR 2332. Changes in nutritional needs from infancy through advanced age. Changes in absorption, metabolism, and utilization of nutrients throughout the life cycle.

NUTR 4135: Food Science Lab II
Cr. 1. (0-3). Prerequisites: dredit for NUTR 2133 , 2233, and credit for or concurrent enrollment in NUTR 4235. Laboratory aspects of food, chemistry, and microbiology.

NUTR 4235: Food Science II (formerly HDCS 4335)
Cr. 2. (2-0). Prerequisites: Credit for NUTR 2133 and NUTR 2233 and credit for or concurrent enrollment in NUTR 4135. Continuation from NUTR 2233 with greater exploration of the relationship between food, chemistry, and microbiology.

NUTR 4312: Nutrition Assessment and Planning (formerly NUTR 3333)
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: NUTR 2332, BIOL 1334, and BIOL 1344, CHEM 1331, and CHEM 1332. Determination of nutritional status of individuals, including dietary assessment and anthropometric techniques. Emphasis on diet modification, counseling, documentation, and provision of care.

NUTR 4332: Food Service Systems Management (formerly HDCS 4332)
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: NUTR 2332. Principles for organizing and managing a variety of food service systems.

NUTR 4333: Medical Nutrition Therapy - Cardiovascular
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: NUTR 4312. Medical nutrition therapy in the management of cardiovascular and renal diseases, diabetes, obesity, and digestive disorders.

NUTR 4334: Community Nutrition (formerly HDCS 4334)
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: NUTR 2332. Assessment of the nutritional needs of population groups. Application of nutritional epidemiology and overview of nutritional programs and interventions available in the community.

NUTR 4336: Issues In Women's Nutrition
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: NUTR 3340. Women's nutrition, including life cycle stages and diseases of women.

NUTR 4338: Pediatric Nutrition
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: NUTR 3340. Nutritional needs of healthy and diseased infants, children, and adolescents. Problems with nutrition delivery.

NUTR 4339: Sports Nutrition
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: NUTR 2332 and BIOL 1431. Exercise physiology and biochemistry. Nutritional strategies to enhance performance, before, during and after competition.

NUTR 4347: Medical Nutrition Therapy - Metabolic
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: NUTR 4312. Medical nutrition therapy in the management of liver, gall bladder, respiratory, cancer, and infectious disease states.

NUTR 4396: Selected Topics in Nutrition (formerly HDCS 4396)
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: NUTR 2332 and six additional semester hours of other NUTR courses. May be repeated for a maximum of nine hours when topics vary.
