The University of Houston comprises 13 colleges and schools:

Accreditations

The university is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as a Level VI, General postsecondary institution. In addition, the university is a member of the Association of Texas Colleges and Universities, the American Council on Education, the Association of American Colleges, and the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges. The colleges and programs may hold memberships or accreditations by additional agencies. The College of Education is accredited by the State Board for Educator Certification and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and is a member of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.


Cullen College of Engineering

Five undergraduate degree programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. The Computer Engineering degree program has been approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board but has not been reviewed for Engineering Accreditation by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

The Communication Disorders Program is accredited by the American Board of Examiners in Speech Pathology and Audiology (ABESPA) of the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (ASLHA). The School of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. The graduate program in clinical psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association.

The following engineering technology curricula are accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission (TAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET): civil technology, electrical technology, and mechanical technology. The Department of Human Development and Consumer Sciences--Human Nutrition and Foods is certified by the American Dietetics Association.
