Courses: Physical Education Basic Instruction Program (PEB)


The Department of Health and Human Performance offers courses under three headings: health (HLT), physical education basic instruction (PEB), and kinesiology (KIN). See the Graduate and Professional Studiescatalog for a list of graduate courses or consult the department for further information.

The following courses are designed to meet the two semester hour general degree requirement in physical education. Students entering the university as of fall 1993 must enroll in PEB 1101 to earn one of the two required credits. The second credit can be earned through enrolling in other PEB classes or DAN 1105 through 1115. 1101: Role of Exercise and Fitness on Health
Cr. 1. (0-3). Analysis of physical fitness and cardiovascular disease risk and the development of an individualized exercise program for health promotion.

1117 through 1121: Selected Aquatics
Cr. 1. (0-3). May be repeated for credit when topics vary. The teaching of beginning and advanced swimming techniques.

Cr. 1. (0-3). Designed to provide fitness and exercise needs for students with handicapping conditions.

1251: Exercise for Health and Fitness
Cr. 2. (1-2). Analysis of the relationship between exercise and health; development of an acceptable level of physical fitness including these components: cardiorespiratory endurance, body composition, and musculoskeletal function. Concurrent lab enrollment required.

2197: Selected Topics in Lifetime Sports
Cr. 1. (0-3). Prerequisite: approval of chair. May be repeated for credit when topics vary.

4198:4298:4398: Special Problems
Cr. 1-3 per semester. Prerequisite: approval of chair.
