Philadelphia: Dufour, 1952. Another standard research volume in a series
on English dress by two of England’s foremost authorities on costume.
Freemantle, Anne.
Age of Faith. The Great Ages of Man Series. New York: Time-Life
Books, 1965. Covers the intellectual, artistic, and cultural developments
in Europe from the Romanesque through the Gothic periods.
Hartley, Dorothy, &
Elliot, Margaret M. Life and Work of the People of England from the
Eleventh to the thirteenth Century. New York: Putnam, 1931. Still a
very useful book form which to obtain a picture of medieval life in
England during the early Middle Ages.
