Exploration Resources
Some resources that might be helpful in using the Internet for research include the following.

Downloading Files

You may download the hot linked Power Point, Word or Excel files from the web site. In order to use these files, your computer must either have Microsoft's commercial software or the free Word, PowerPoint or Excel Viewer.

Microsoft provides the free viewers. If you wish to obtain a free viewer, you may download it from Microsoft:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/HA010449811033.aspX

After downloading the viewer, run the self-extracting program by clicking on it. The Microsoft site provides complete instructions.

When you are viewing the web site and encounter a hotlink to a Word, Power Point or Excel file, click on it.

For Power Point slides, Netscape will ask you how to handle it by displaying a screen. If you have already downloaded the reader, note the name of the file or tell Netscape the name that you wish to use and where to store the file. You can save the file on a floppy disc or on your hard drive in a location that you specify. You may then continue viewing the web site and read the files after you have exited Netscape.

Another free reader can be obtained from Adobe.

Adobe Acrobat Free Reader
