Military and Veterans Cording Ceremony
The Cording Ceremony takes place at the end of the fall and spring semesters. Each graduate receives a patriot cord to wear during the campus-wide commencement. The ceremony is our way of recognizing the successful transition of our veterans from the military to graduates.

VetSuccess on Campus (VSOC) Counselor
The VA has a full-time, experienced Vocational Counselor on the UH campus. This counselor serves as a “one-stop VA liaison” for veterans, active duty military, and their eligible family members who attend or plan to attend UH.

Corporate Networking Opportunities
There are multiple opportunities for student-veterans to network with corporations in the metropolitan Houston area. Perhaps the most popular time is during the annual Career and Resource Fair.

Student Veterans of America
The Student Veterans of America (SVA) is a 501(c)(3) coalition of student-veteran groups on campuses across the nation. The purpose of the SVA is to build camaraderie, provide academic support for veterans and their dependents, reach out to the military and veteran community, and to build veteran awareness on campus. Moreover, the organization hosts social events and workshops, while providing volunteers throughout the community. The UH chapter was established in January 2014.
