A Message from President Renu Khator

January 15, 2008

I am so honored to serve as your new chancellor and president, and the time since my confirmation has proven to be both busy and enlightening. One thing remains abundantly clear — the University of Houston is poised for greatness.

Noted educator and statesman John W. Gardner once said, “History never looks like history when you’re living through it.” And that is exactly what is taking place at the University of Houston—we are in the process of making history. I have watched the University of Houston grow and develop a stellar reputation as an outstanding, highly respected metropolitan university. And today, now a Cougar myself, I marvel at the exciting opportunity that we have to empower young lives, develop meaningful relationships, and ultimately build the future of our beloved university.

And so, as we begin our first semester together, I must say thank you for so warmly welcoming me to this great campus. I pledge to do my best to make the most of that opportunity and I ask you to join me in that pledge. The University of Houston is a great university and now, working together, we can take it to even greater heights.

Warmest regards,

Renu
