University of Houston Wellness, the Cougar Peer Educators and
the UH chapter of University Mothers Against Drunk Driving are
co-sponsoring a drunk-driving awareness event from 11 a.m. to
1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the University Center.
Participants will have the opportunity to experience a mock
sobriety test with UH Department of Public Safety by wearing
beer goggles, which illustrate impaired coordination and judgment.
The event also includes free food and prizes, obstacles course,
stories about drunk-driving victims and information about blood
alcohol concentration.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,
Harris County has the highest drunk driving rate of any county
across the United States.
