The memorial for Janet Saltzman Chafetz will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6 in The Honors College’s Commons Room at the University of Houston M.D. Anderson Library. Chafetz died July 6 after a battle with cancer.

Chafetz was a faculty member for 35 years. She was a professor of sociology and served as the sociology department chair for 12 years.

A fund, which will support graduate and undergraduate programs in the sociology department, has been established in her honor. Donations may be sent to the Janet S.
