The Cougar football team is bowl bound once again as it travels
to Fort Worth to face the University of Kansas Jayhawks at 7
p.m. Dec. 23.
It’s the second time in three years that the football
team will compete in a bowl game, which will be nationally televised
live on ESPN. Earlier that day, another Cougar matchup will
take place when the men’s basketball team battles the
University of North Texas at 1 p.m. in Denton.
To help bring a big dose of red and white spirit to the games,
the Athletics Department has joined with Houston Alumni Organization
and Cougar Pride to offer several packages to faculty, staff
and students.
One of the packages designed for faculty, staff, alumni and
university friends include a round-trip bus ride and admission
to UH’s official pre-game tailgate party for $85. The
package does not include bowl tickets, which are $40 plus additional
fees.
For students, the university is offering several ways to participate
in the activities. One student package includes transportation
to and from Fort Worth, admission to the pre-game tailgate party,
a football T-shirt and a ticket to the football game. The package
costs $30.
A limited number of free tickets for UH students are available
through the Athletes Ticket Office for both the basketball and
football games.
To help as many students as possible attend the Fort Worth
Bowl, university officials are inviting UH supporters to purchase
a ticket for a student.
Bowl festivities begin at 7:00 p.m. Dec. 14 with a pep rally
and coach Art Briles’ live “Cougar Talk” radio
show at the UH Athletics/Alumni Center. The official bowl pep
rally in will be held on 5 p.m. Dec. 22 at Sundance Square in
downtown Fort Worth.
