University of Houston faculty and students missed a week of
classes due to Hurricane Rita and its aftermath. After consulting
with the Faculty Senate to identify ways to make up part of
the lost class time, Donald J. Foss, senior vice President for
academic affairs and provost, announced the decision to use
the scheduled reading days at the end of the semester as official
class days.
The scheduled reading days at the end of the semester—Monday
and Tuesday, Dec. 5 and 6—will be official class days
to allow faculty to have time to cover missed coursework. Therefore,
students should plan to attend their regular Monday classes
on Dec. 5 and their regular Tuesday classes on Dec. 6 in their
regular classrooms. The schedule for finals will not change.
