University of Houston staff will again have the opportunity to participate in a four-and-a-half-day work week over the next few months, under a summer 2005 flex-time work schedule.
All full-time staff members are eligible to take part in the program with the approval of their supervisors. Departments, however, must be able to cover workloads and maintain normal operating hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Under the program, which is voluntary, staff members have the option to work four nine-hour work days and one four-hour day. The flexible work schedule does not result in any overtime earnings or costs. The summer flex-time schedule began May 18 and ends Aug. 23.
