This fall a familiar face will assume leadership of University
of Houston’s Staff Council.
Charles Henry, College of Pharmacy business administrator and
Staff Council vice president, was elected as the council’s
president-elect during its May 5 meeting. He previously served
as the organization’s president from 1998 through 2000
and will return to that position on Thursday, Sept. 1.
“I am honored to lead this organization and to represent
the UH staff,” said Henry.
After his second term as president ended in 2000, Henry took
a four-year hiatus from serving on the council. In 2004, he
became eager to participate in council activities once more
and was elected as a representative of the Division of Academic
Affairs.
“With Jay Gogue coming on board as UH president, I became
excited about serving on the council, again,” he said.
“Seeing how much he values staff input encouraged me to
come back.”
One of Henry’s immediate goals when he takes office is
to inspire as many staff members as possible to participate
in the council and its events.
“We’re moving in a good direction,” he said.
“Interest in the council is growing, but I’d like
to see even more people participate, so it can truly be the
voice of the staff.”
