May 3, 2005 UH TO REMEMBER PROFESSOR EMERITUS PETER GUENTHER A campus memorial service will be held in honor of the late Peter Guenther, University of Houston Professor Emeritus of Art, at 3 p.m. Friday, May 6, in the Dudley Recital Hall, Room 132 in the Fine Arts Building. The memorial will showcase Guenther’s life and work and highlight his contributions to the art department. Guenther, who died in March, taught art history at UH for 30 years. He served as chairman of the art department for 13 years during the 1960s and 1970s. During his tenure at the university, he helped mount exhibitions of modern art at Blaffer Gallery and introduced courses on Bauhaus and German expressionism. Guenther retired from UH in 1994.
