LADY COUGARS TO PLAY
IN NCAA TOURNAMENT
The University of Houston’s
Lady Cougars have done it again — shooting and rebounding
their way to their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
The Lady Cougars will play the seventh-seed Boston
College Golden Eagles in the Chattanooga Regional, 1:30 p.m. Sunday,
March 20.
To cheer on the team, a watch party will be held
at UH’s Campus Recreation and Wellness Center’s rotunda.
Cougar Pride will host another watch party at the Fox and Hound
Pub and Grille, 11470 Westheimer Road. Watch parties will be held
at the same locations on Tuesday, March 22, if the Lady Cougars
win on Sunday.
After receiving an at-large bid to play in the 2005
NCAA Tournament, the women’s basketball team will enter this
year’s tournament as the No. 10 seed. The Lady Cougars enter
the tournament with a 21-8 overall record and in third place Conference
USA standings with a 10-4 record.
Last year, the team had entered the NCAA tournament
as a No. three seed and as Conference USA champions. In the second
round, UH fell, 56-52, to University of California — Santa
Barbara, but it was the first time in school history that the women’s
basketball team advanced past the first round in the NCAA Tournament.
