Although Valentine’s Day is two weeks away, Americans will celebrate another matter of the heart — the second Annual National Wear Red Day.

Across the nation, federal and other employees will wear red on Friday, Feb. 4 as part of an effort to increase awareness about the deadly impact of heart disease among women by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.

Here at the University of Houston, where red is one of the school’s colors, it couldn’t be more appropriate.
