HOUSTON PUBLIC RADIO RAISES
RECORD AMOUNT IN PRIVATE FUNDS
KUHF-FM Houston Public Radio
set a new record amount — $700,252— in donations, surpassing
by 8 percent its $650,000 fall fundraising campaign goal.
The total represents direct donations from 5,222
new and renewing partners, and includes individual and corporate
challenge grants used during the course of the campaign. The previous
record of $625,312 was set during the fall 2001 fundraising campaign.
"All of us at Houston Public Radio are grateful
for the individual and corporate supporters who gave so generously
of their resources,” said Chief Executive Officer John Proffitt.
“Their support is a clear vote of confidence in the mission
of Houston Public Radio to provide thoughtful, in-depth news and
features, and great classical music as a public service to the community.”
Anadarko Petroleum, Chantal Factory Outlet, Compass
Bank and many other companies awarded the radio station challenge
grants.
The station, which is located at the University
of Houston, is licensed to the UH System Board of Regents.
