The Federation of Houston Professional Women recently recognized Barbara Stewart, professor of human development and consumer sciences in the College of Technology, as a “Woman of Excellence.” Stewart was one of 43 women honored.

Stewart, who also is the coordinator of the Consumer Sciences and Merchandising program, has published approximately 75 professional journal articles, edited or authored texts and monographs, and made more than 70 scholarly presentations. She has served as president of the Houston Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and as chairwoman of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Colleges, Universities and Research Section.
