DEADLINE FOR STAFF COUNCIL NOMINATIONS
JULY 21
Leadership is the driving force
behind the University of Houston’s Staff Council. Now, the
council is looking for a few new leaders to address issues facing
the campus community.
Elections will be held in early August, and Staff
Council is seeking nominations for candidates. The deadline for
nominations is 5 p.m. July 21. Staff members may submit nomination
forms to Karl Bernard, technical services specialist, in Room 419
of the Graduate School of Social Work or via fax at (713) 743-2743.
Forms can be obtained on the Staff Council Web site, http://www.uh.edu/sc/.
Nominees must be full-time, benefits-eligible staff
members who have been employed by UH for at least six months. Staff
members also may nominate themselves.
If elected, staff members can offer input on such
issues as raises and staff scholarships, as well as participate
in events like Cougar First Impressions.
“This is a great time for a staff member to
take an active involvement in Staff Council,” said Angie Shortt,
Staff Council president and director of communications for the Cullen
College of Engineering. “By nominating yourself or a colleague,
you are investing time into a worthwhile organization that is making
a direct impact on the quality of life for staff on this campus.”
