STAFF EXCELLENCE AWARD
BARNES NAILS UNIVERSITY HONOR
Building outstanding service is one of the many
aspects of Michael Barnes’ job that he does exceptionally
well. That’s according to his supporters across the university.
A staff member for 27 years, Barnes supervises the carpenter shop,
working on campus projects such as the instructional support lab,
classroom, restrooms and labs at the human development and consumer
sciences department in the Cameron Building.
Barnes, who began his tenure at UH as a journey carpenter, has “a
particular desire to do what is best for the university,” one
supporter wrote in a recommendation letter. “He has often
found ways to use surplus materials, whiteboards, chair rails,
etc…, to solve our needs.”
Award recipients receive a framed certificate and a $1,000 check.
