Maria Claudia Borras Executive Vice President, Oilfield Services & Equipment, Baker Hughes

Maria Claudia Borras is Executive Vice President, Oilfield Services & Equipment, at Baker Hughes, where she sets business and value-creation strategies for the 35,000-employee organization.

A 30-year veteran of the oil and gas industry, Borras served in senior executive roles at Baker Hughes, a GE company, and at its predecessors, GE Oil & Gas and Baker Hughes Incorporated, prior to her present role.

From 2015 to 2017, she was Chief Commercial Officer at GE Oil & Gas, managing a global team of more than 4,000 sales, commercial, and marketing professionals. She came to GE Oil & Gas from Baker Hughes Incorporated, which she joined in 1993. From 2013 until her assignment with GE Oil & Gas, she served as President, Latin America Region, overseeing a $2 billion business with approximately 6,000 employees and a diverse range of customers.

Throughout her career at Baker Hughes Incorporated, she also served as President, Europe/Africa/Russia Caspian Region; Vice President, Global Marketing; Vice President, Centrilift Marketing; and area manager for a number of countries in Latin America.

Borras began her career in the oil and gas industry as a production engineer for Esso in Bogotá, Colombia. She then moved into operations, marketing, and management roles at Esso before joining Baker Hughes Incorporated.

Borras serves on the boards of directors of Tyson Foods, Inc. and Baker Petrolite Saudi Company and served on the ADNOC Drilling board of directors from 2019 to 2021. She is active in several Baker Hughes resource groups, including the Women’s Network and the Hispanic Forum.

She earned a degree in petroleum engineering from the Universidad de América, Bogotá, Colombia, in 1991.
