The College of Technology's Construction Management Department has received an oil refinery plant model designed by Fluor. At three feet by three feet, the model displays a distillation column, air coolers, pipe rack and a heat exchanger which all come together to form one section of an oil refinery facility. The model was used by construction and engineering teams to plan site layout, identify piping conflicts and other errors in drawings, saving expensive field reworking. The value of the model is in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
