Rupa Iyer, PhD, associate dean of research and graduate studies in the University of Houston College of Technology, joins other distinguished international scholars and professionals who are experts in the educational, political, economic, social, and cultural matters of their countries. Dr. Iyer has been awarded the prestigious Fulbright Specialist grant, "Technology in Engineering Education," at Al Akhawayn University (AUI) in Ifrane Morocco and "Faculty of Sciences and Technology" at Abdelmalek Essaadi University (AEU) in Tangier. Her travel begins during the month of July.
Working in partnership with AUI on research, Dr. Iyer will introduce new ways of environmental sampling in the biotechnology laboratory. Iyer's expertise and guidance will support AUI's development of a research module for our undergraduate engineering programs.
At AEU, Dr. Iyer will present a seminar on the UH model for integration of education and research. She will discuss projects that can engage faculty and students through an open education resource in environmental sampling and nurture opportunities for international collaborations. Her discussion will include a review and assessment of the current curriculum.
