Financial Aid Opportunities

Teaching assistantship and research assistantship

The Department of Engineering Technology hires many Teaching Assistants or Instructional Assistants (TA/IA) each semester due to the large undergraduate enrollment. Multiple TA positions are available from the department on a competitive basis. The funding for TAships has three categories:

  • Ph.D. students, working with a professor as the advisor in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET). An MET professor collaborates with the college of engineering Ph.D. program to advise Ph.D. students.
  • Master of Engineering Technology students with thesis, working with a professor as the advisor in Mechanical Engineering Technology. Every MET thesis option student needs to complete a thesis.
  • Other graduate student assistants / instructional assistants / lab assistants.

Research Assistantships may be available from individual faculty members in the program, depending on the availability of research funds. Currently, all Ph.D. and MET Master's thesis option students are financially supported.
