Presenter Application

Students are encouraged to apply to present at Tex Fit to share their knowledge and skills with other instructors.  Presenting is also a great way to fine-tune your stage presence and figure out if you’re ready to take your fitness career beyond your University’s rec center.

Presentations should be focused on EDUCATION for the session participants.  Before applying think to yourself:  what is one thing that I do well that I’d like to help develop in others?  -or-  what kind of coaching do my peers often seek from me?  These questions can help guide you to a topic that will be fun for you and also beneficial to your participants.

Students who are interested in applying should complete the Presenter Application Form.  Don't forget to e-mail a link to your audition video to accompany your application!

The University of Houston is home to one of the top ranked undergraduate programs for hotel and restaurant management. The on-campus Hilton hotel is training ground for many of the talented young students to matriculate from this program.  The Hilton is conveniently located less than 1 block from the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center. Go to www.hilton.com and search for the ‘Hilton University of Houston’ at zip code 77004 to reserve a room.

In an effort to reduce costs to students and recreation departments, the University of Houston is happy to offer a FREE overnight stay in our recreation center on Friday, February 21st. As we do not normally host overnight visitors, please come prepared with appropriate bedding and cushioning to sleep in one of our multi-purpose rooms. Separate rooms will be provided for male and female registrants. If you are interested in the overnight stay option, please indicate so on your registration form.  For overnight guests, the option to purchase some breakfast food will be provided on Saturday morning by one of our student organizations as a fund raiser.

Demo Teams

Tex Fit 2014 welcomes demo teams from Texas schools to compete for the glory of victory during the annual demo team competition. Demo teams should submit an application to be considered for selection.  A demo team performance should include a snapshot of the variety and energy that drives the fitness program at your home institution. When putting a performance together, keep these points in mind:

  • Demo team performances should be 2-4 minutes in length.
  • Music should be free of profane language.
  • Performances should demonstrate a variety of fitness formats including any that may be unique to your institution.
  • Demo teams are student led!  Your Director may be a resource to help guide you but the real driving-force behind the team should be students!
  • The number of demo teams will be limited by the amount of time available for performances during the lunch hour.
