Assistant or Associate Professor - Music - Applied Flute - Tenure-Track
Description:
The Moores School of Music of the University of Houston is seeking an applied flute teacher.
The individual should be an active teacher, showing strong evidence of accomplishment at the university level. S/he should also be active as a performer, with a record of exhibiting fine musical artistry.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Actively recruit and teach a full load of fine private flute students, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels (applied and music education majors). Work in conjunction with other applied faculty in promoting the University of Houston Moores School of Music through a variety of performance and pedagogical opportunities. Collaborate with our outstanding faculty and affiliate artists, and perform as a soloist and chamber musician in recitals and concerts, both on and off campus. Maintain a strong presence at the local, state and national levels through master classes, workshops and clinics. Coach chamber music as needed and appropriate; coach flute and wind sectionals for orchestra and wind ensembles, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Doctoral degree in applied flute preferred. Proven outstanding abilities as a teacher of undergraduate and graduate flute students. Proven outstanding abilities as a solo performer and chamber musician. Demonstrated commitment to, and understanding of, the importance of the program of study offered at the Moores School of Music, including majors in applied flute and music education.
DATE AVAILABLE: August 2010.
RANK AND SALARY: Assistant professor or associate professor on tenure-track; salary commensurate with experience.
