Assistant Professor - Human Nutrition - Tenure-Track

 

Description:

Assistant (Tenure Track) Professor in Human Nutrition. The Department of Health and Human Performance (HHP) at the University of Houston is seeking a nutrition specialist with a demonstrated research interest in variables associated obesity/energy balance for tenure-track position.

The position is a 9-month appointment with Summer school teaching optional. Effective date of appointment will be August, 2009.

Qualification:

Ph.D. in nutrition or any related, biological, behavioral or clinical science. Registered Dietician credentials are strongly preferred. Ability to conduct and publish quality, high-impact research. Potential to engage in cooperative research projects with medical, community and governmental agencies located in Houston. Graduate and undergraduate teaching, web/technology skills and postdoctoral experience are desirable. Preference given to candidates interested in conducting research on a variety of populations including those dwelling in underserved urban areas.

Responsibilities:

Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in nutrition and/or obesity studies. Train graduate students in nutrition and obesity studies. Develop and maintain a vigorous scholarly research program that will foster acquisition of external funding and enhance graduate student recruitment and training. Perform service to the department, college, university and the profession.

Salary:

Commensurate with qualifications.
