The Valenti School of Communication at the University of Houston invites applicants for a junior tenure-track or mid-level tenured position in media production.
The preferred candidate must have a Ph.D and demonstrated teaching and research/publication/creative ability. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate media production courses in a fully-developed program centering on studio and field production, nonlinear editing, long and short-form narrative storytelling and multimedia production. Candidate would be expected to assist in the transition to high definition television, teach a 2-3 course load, assist in supervising the media production curriculum and have a programmatic research or creative production agenda.
The position start date is for the fall '10 academic year, which is also the anticipated completion date of donor- funded studio expansion.
The University of Houston is a state-assisted university. Approximately 350 of the 1,500 majors specialize in media production.
