Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - Construction Management - One (1) Tenure-Track position, One (1) Non-tenure-track position

Description:

The Department of Engineering Technology of the College of Technology at the University of Houston is seeking to fill one tenure-track and one instructional faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in its Construction Management program starting in fall 2008.

The appointment level will be commensurate with the candidate's academic and industrial experience. The successful candidate must have an earned Doctoral degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or closely related field; and must have considerable construction industry experience.

Particular areas of interest include: Project Controls Systems, Automation of Construction Processes, Lean Construction, Sustainability, Design Construction Integration, and Computer Applications in Construction Management. Candidates with teaching and/or research interests at the interface of two or more of these areas are especially encouraged to apply.

Faculty members are expected to establish a vigorous externally funded research program, develop collaborative research initiatives with university wide constituents, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, articulate well with industry, and contribute to the continuous improvement and outcome-based assessment of the program to maintain professional accreditation. The individual must command excellent written and oral communication skills and must continually improve his/her teaching skills.

The Construction Management program has experienced steady growth in its undergraduate and graduate student enrollment and in industrial and research funding support. The department has over 750 students, 27 full-time faculty and staff, offers 6 B.S. degrees, a Master of Technology degree, and spends over $1.0M from external sources.
