CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
Faculty Position - All Ranks - Infrastructure Engineering - Tenured or Tenure-Track
Description:
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of University of Houston, invites applications or nominations for a tenure-track faculty position in infrastructure engineering including but not limited to: sustainable civil infrastructure, advanced materials, geo-systems, advanced computational mechanics, retrofitting technologies, or renewable energy systems.
Candidates at all ranks will be considered, but those at the Professor/Associate Professor level are preferred. We seek an individual with a sustained record of exemplary professional achievement as indicated by outstanding teaching, significant sponsored research and publications along with major professional leadership activities. The candidate will take an active role in expanding on the current research strength in infrastructure engineering and in developing new research initiatives.
The anticipated start date of this appointment is August 2010. A PhD in civil engineering or closely related field is required.
The University and the Department
The University of Houston is a public university with 29,000 undergraduate and 8,000 graduate students located in a 550-acre park-like setting a few minutes from downtown Houston. The average annual research expenditures for the department are $2.4 million, with 14 faculty expected to grow to 24 by 2012. Current enrollment is 250 undergraduate and 110 graduate students and is increasing rapidly.
