Board of Regents — The committee appointed by the state of Texas to oversee the effective operation of the University of Houston System. The Board of Regents consists of nine members who are appointed by the governor for a six-year term. The board’s student member is appointed for a one-year term. Always uppercase and use the full name on the first reference. Upon the second reference, board can be used as a substitute. When referring to a member of the Board of Regents, refer to him or her as Regent followed by the last name.
