Capital Improvement Plan

The Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) is a five-year plan that identifies planned capital projects and land acquisitions, including a schedule and financing structure for each project. The plan provides a link between campus strategic plans and the University’s capital budget.

Having the Plan also helps to schedule projects and define next steps. Having Board approval in advance for the System CIP provides an opportunity to be involved in the planning stages of the project and inform the CIP. This also provides the opportunity to have important discussions about the strategic direction of each institution and capital and deferred maintenance.

Current Phase: Needs Assessment
Building off of the Facilities Condition Assessment conducted in 2012, the process of assessing the needs for various University user groups began in October 2013.
