Walgreens Provides $10,000 Diversity and Inclusion Gift for Scholarships and Program Support

UH College of Pharmacy's commitment to developing a diverse pharmacy workforce recently received welcome assistance through a $10,000 gift from the Walgreens Diversity Scholarship Program.

Walgreens’ gift is designed to increase the availability of education assistance for underrepresented students enrolled in pharmacy programs; to support the development of pipeline and recruitment programs targeting minority students; and to support awareness initiatives and programs that focus on building a diverse, supportive and inclusive culture.

Since 2008, Walgreens has provided more than $1 million each year to accredited pharmacy schools around the country to help support diversity initiatives. With these gifts, Walgreens seeks to encourage more students to consider becoming a health professional on the frontline of patient care.

"Walgreens has long been a valued partner of UH College of Pharmacy through their generous scholarship gifts, working with our students to provide patient care through community wellness events and immunization clinics, and experiential sites for our students," said UHCOP Dean F. Lamar Pritchard, Ph.D., R.Ph.
