Graduate Education Programs at UH Among the Best in the Nation

New Rankings Released from U.S. News & World Report

The University of Houston College of Education graduate programs are among the best in the nation, according to new rankings from the U.S. News & World Report’s 2016 Best Graduate Schools.

“Nearly half of college students see value in pursuing graduate degrees,” said Brian Kelly, editor and chief content officer of U.S. News.

The College of Education offers 16 graduate programs in diverse areas of study, such as counseling, health education and administration and supervision. Curriculum and Instruction courses allow students to specialize in such areas as art education, early childhood education, reading-language arts-literature, science, teaching and social education.

In convocation ceremonies planned for May 14 at Hofeinz Pavilion, 106 students will receive master’s degrees from the college, representing nearly 10 percent of all graduate degree recipients. According to national reports, these new education professionals enter an industry in need of new talent following a trend of retirements of veteran teachers.

This accolade comes on the heels of a U.S. News & World Report 2015 ranking of online graduate programs. The college was ranked tops among the nation’s colleges and universities.

The 2016 rankings also examined the nation’s graduate schools in business, law, engineering and medicine. Each discipline was ranked on factors such as enrollment, employment outcomes for graduates and acceptance rates.
