UH, UHAA to Honor ‘Cougar 100’ at Nov. 6 Luncheon

Fastest-Growing UH Alumni-owned or -Led Businesses Recognized

The University of Houston and the University of Houston Alumni Association (UHAA) will host the inaugural Cougar 100 Luncheon at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 6. The event, which recognizes the 100 fastest-growing UH alumni-owned or -operated businesses in the world, will take place at the Bayou City Event Center (9401 Knight Road).

Businesses were nominated for the honor and had to meet certain criteria based on their annual growth from 2011 to 2013. The businesses had to have generated at least $250,000 in revenue in 2011 and been in operation for at least five years as of June 30, 2013. To be considered Cougar-owned, the company must be 51 percent owned by a Cougar or cumulatively by a group of Cougars. Cougar-led companies are considered those with a CEO, president, managing partner or chairman who is a Houston Cougar. The Houston Business Journal will publish the list of the 100 companies honored, which will include company name, location and names of alumni principals. 
 
University of Houston President Renu Khator will be a special guest at the Cougar 100 Luncheon and Tilman Fertitta, chairman of the UH System Board of Regents and Chairman/CEO of Landry’s Inc., will give the keynote address.  Following the event, the Cougar 100 list will be made available at houstonalumni.com/Cougar100.
