UH Libraries Awarded ‘Best of Show’ by American Library Association

The University of Houston Libraries, the academic library system of UH, has been chosen as a winner of the Best of Show Awards Competition at the PR Xchange, which recognizes the top public relations materials produced by libraries nationwide. UH won for its strategic video “University of Houston Libraries. ” The video showcases UH Libraries services as well as its high-performing organizational culture.

“This award is a testament to our talented staff as well as the services we provide,” said Dana Rooks, dean of UH Libraries. “The award-winning video demonstrates the commitment of our librarians to offer superior services and recruit Tier One talent to the University of Houston. It is exciting to receive such a visible and prestigious award from our national association.”

The Best of Show at PR Xchange competition is sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) Library Leadership Administration and Management Association’s public relations and marketing section and the PR Xchange Committee. Winners are selected for content, originality and design and judged by a team of public relations, graphic design, communications and marketing professionals.

The UH Libraries winning entry was created as a strategic centerpiece for the redesigned Libraries employment web page. The video includes Rooks and librarians discussing the organization and showcasing services and features designed to support the academic and research needs of UH students, faculty, staff and the scholarly community. The video was produced as a collaborative effort by librarians and staff and was coordinated by the UH Libraries Office of Communications.

The UH Libraries will be recognized at the Best of Show ceremony at the ALA Annual Conference in Las Vegas in June. The PR Xchange is a dropin style event at the conference where libraries across the country share their public relations and marketing ideas.
