UHDPS Officer Killed in Auto Accident

Ann O'Donnell Remembered as Dedicated Officer

University of Houston Department of Public Safety (UHDPS) Police Officer Ann O'Donnell was involved in a fatal automobile accident this morning (Dec. 24) while responding to a call of a possible abduction in progress at the Wendy's Restaurant on Scott Street across from Robertson Stadium.

UHDPS Dispatch lost radio contact with Officer O'Donnell. Shortly after losing radio contact, UHDPS was notified by the Houston Police Department that one of its patrol vehicles had been involved in a single vehicle accident in the 4300 block of North McGregor Way.

Officer O'Donnell, 24 died while being transported to Ben Taub Hospital.

"Officer O'Donnell joined the department in September 2009," said UHDPS Chief Malcolm Davis. "She was a fine, dedicated officer, and we are deeply saddened by her death. Our hearts go out to her family, friends and fellow officers during this difficult time."
