The FE exam is the first step an engineering student or graduate
must take to become a professional engineer. The PE/P&P exam
is a test offered in a specific discipline of engineering and is
taken after a prescribed number of years of engineering practice.
Licensing as a professional engineer protects the public by ensuring
that engineers have met certain standards of competency in education.
