Music by Douglas Moore
Libretto by John Latouche

A true story inspired this gloriously romantic panorama of the American West with no less than 5 arias for the title character, each one more beautiful than the last. The final scene, appropriately set on the stage of an opera house, has one of the most moving endings in all of opera. This beloved work has not been seen in Houston in over 20 years.

Well, what would YOU do if neighborhood children started eating your house? Hansel and Gretel are back, and they are hungry! Unfortunately, the poor kids thought they were at the top of the food chain. Luckily for us, they get to sing about it accompanied by a splendid Wagnerian orchestra, so children and adults will both be delighted. Bring the family… and breadcrumbs.

Beware the submissive bride who looks too good to be true. Poor Pasquale ignores that warning and pays a hysterical price. Our production, set on the Italian Riviera of the 1950’s, promises to be a brightly colorful, high-energy romp with melodic invention that never flags.

Music by William Bolcom
Libretto by Mark Campbell
Based on the play by George S. Kaufmann and Edna Ferber

An elegant invitation to a sophisticated Manhattan dinner party proves to be a recipe for disaster. Based on the comedy-drama that spawned an all-star classic film, this new opera, premiered in 2017, lovingly pays homage to the Broadway of the 1930’s and boasts a large cast of memorable characters.
