Transfer Student Enrollment Checklist

Here’s everything you need to know about making the transition to Houston, including how to apply and our admission criteria. If you have questions along the way, be sure to check our FAQs.

  1. Schedule a visit to UH
  2. Check admission requirements and deadlines. Please note that some colleges and majors have specific requirements that must be met to be admitted into specific programs.
  3. Apply online using the Apply Texas Application
  4. The $50 application fee. You may pay this with a credit card when you submit your application, or send a check or money order to the admissions office.
  5. Your college transcripts. Please send official transcripts from all colleges and institutions previously attended.

    **Please note that some students will need additional documents. If you’d like to apply to the Honors College, you’ll need to submit a separate Honors application.

  9. Contact an admissions counselor for any further questions.
  10. Look for your acceptance package and start building your future as a Cougar.
  11. Student Orientation is mandatory for all incoming transfer students with 15 hours of transferable credit or less. If you have more than 15 hours of credit, Orientation is optional, but strongly recommended to make your transition easier and more enjoyable. Sign up for Orientation as soon as you can once you receive your acceptance package.
