Working with Human Subjects at the University of Houston

Any University of Houston student who wishes to include the use of human subjects in their research, whether this research is part of an independent project or sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Research, must receive approval from the University’s Institutional Review Board, or IRB. The University of Houston houses two IRBs, known as Committees for the Protection of Human Subjects One and Two (CPHS 1, CPHS 2).  Each CPHS serves specific University colleges, so please reference the Division of Research CPHS website to determine the appropriate committee for your proposed research.

Additional information can be found at the University of Houston Research Compliance and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services websites.
